What to expect the day of your’s procedure.  Whether you pet is having a dental, routine or major surgery we follow the same schedule.  We do surgical and dental procedures on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Dr. Wheeler usually schedules 3-5 procedures each Surgery day.  The following is what do expect the day of the procedure.

-We ask that you give your pet no food or water after 10 pm the night before the procedure.

-Drop is the morning of between 7:30 am and 8:00 am

–  Once you drop your pet off we will take a small blood sample to do a pre-anesthetic blood blood work.  We will test the Liver, Kidneys and Glucose to make sure your pet is healthy enough for surgery.  Your pet’s age will determine which test Dr. Wheeler will do. If you pet has had blood work within the last 2 months and everything was normal Dr. Wheeler may take those results and not do additional testing.

– Dr. Wheeler usually has surgeries done by noon each day and you can call anytime after that to check and see how your pet is doing.

-Patients are released between 4 pm and 6 pm the same day.  Most surgeries go home the same day.  Cat declaws always stay over night and some of our more complex surgeries do also.
